Why Every Page Needs a Main Heading (H1) for AI to Understand It

Some of your pages have no main heading. The main heading is the clearest single statement of what a page is about, and without it an AI tool has to work that out from the rest of the text.

Pages have no main heading

What this means

Every page should have one main heading, the big title at the top. In the code of the page it is marked as the top-level heading (an H1), which is how machines know it is the title and not just large text.

This problem counts the pages where our check found no heading marked that way. Often the title is there to the eye but was built as a picture or as plain styled text.

Why it matters for AI

An AI tool reads the main heading first to learn what the page is about. Without one it has to guess from the body, and often gets it wrong.

Fix it with AI Schema Gen

Every step below is in the AI Schema Gen dashboard, whatever your site is built with. For the fixes to reach your pages, your site needs to be connected first: connect your site.

  1. 1

    Open Fixes

In the menu on the left, click Fixes.

The left-hand menu with an arrow pointing at Fixes
  2. 2

    Find the card under Read

Scroll down to Read. The card ending no main heading lists the first few pages.

  3. 3

Give each of those pages a main heading

This is a change on your side. Headings are part of the page itself and are set in your website builder or theme.

AI Schema Gen cannot make this change from the dashboard: it works on the structured data of your pages, not on the pages themselves.

  4. 4

    Check again

Go back to Fixes and click Check again. When every page has a main heading, this problem moves to Resolved.
